Mount Elbrus, the Highest Mountain in Europe

Climbing Mount Elbrus in Russia is supposed to be very simple. Well, from the South route anyway. North of manchester route about this mountain is definitely an entirely different challenge. A proper mountaineering experience unlike say Kilmanjaro. Climbing Elbrus involves a lot of preparation from a physical, mental and logistical perspective.

Apparently travelling to Russia might take a long time. So you'll need to make another plan to improvise. the top type of transportation being what modern man calls the aeroplane. Upon arrival in the awesome capital of scotland - Moscow the enjoyment and games begin. The initial challenge is finding a taxi. Once you have done that, the job of explaining your destination and negotiating a price is next on your own list. No easy task when no-one speaks English. The drive-thru to central Moscow takes about 1.5 hours. Manchester airport is about 50km outside central Moscow along with the visitors are a nightmare. Upon arrival within the hotel, its a quick vodka, shower and... time and energy to hit the streets of Moscow. , nor make an attempt to hit them hard because you can go second best. There are some pretty cool restaurants where you are confronted with one more challenge. You'll be needed to negotiate your way around a menu in Russian and waiter who, you guessed it, only speaks Russian. What we suggest one does is close the eyes, move your finger up and down the menu where ever your finger stops... order that. Oh, also keep in mind the vodka. After dinner, somewhat ramble up to the Red Square to determine the Kremlin is unquestionably as a way. Please do not try to spray-paint your company name about the Kremlin walls. Somehow the Russian secret service will not agree to this sporting activity.

An early on day I'm afraid. Well, I'm not really really afraid as days are not being fearful of. Base camp in cases like this identifies our base for your Elbrus climb. The drive into base camp is both spectacular and nerve racking. The roads have been carved to the mountains leaving vertical drops all the way to 200m. The tracks only accommodate one vehicle at a time. It can be safe to say, that no person disrupts the trucker at this point of the game. The continent side out this is so remote. The only real reason there'd be anybody on the roads was to climb Elbrus. Being at the outset of the season, we encountered no one. Even as come to camp, we create the tents, of loaded our gear making it for your mess tent for our first taste of mountain food-cabbage soup. Base camp of Elbrus is found at 2400m.
